I've lived in NJ, VA, TX, OH (x2), NM, CA (x2), FL (x2), and NC. And I visited most of the other states. They all had much to offer as long as you're willing to consider new things. I'd be willing to live in any of them again, but less so in the blue-blue states, mainly because of the political environment (read that to mean: taxes, cost-of-living, crime, municipal bankruptcy, etc.)
