My experience is that every place has many tolerable properties, some
great properties and some properties that make you wonder why anyone
would ever want to live there.
I line the area from LaCrosse WI to Dubuque IA. This includes an
area called little switzerland. Beautiful country. Great for
outside sports: boating, fishing, skiing (water and snow) hunting,
hiking, sightseeing and so forth.
Lansing and McGregor are picturesque little towns. WI, outside of
Milwaukee and at least 50 miles out of madison (looneyville) is nice.
Calhoun county IL is nice. You can live on the IL river side or the
Mississippi side of the county. Most of MO, away from St.L and away
from KC is nice.
Most of the states bordering the ohio, Mississippi and Missouri
rivers and the great lakes are nice if you stay out of the metro areas
TX, FL and some other states have no state income tax, but get you
other ways. OR used to have no sales tax. Is that still true?
If you like ocean, Dauphin Island, AL is nice, as is the FL panhandle
and the MS gulf coast with 26 miles long beach.
Northern Cal(at least 100 miles away from sanfransicko) and all the
way up to BC is beautiful country, if you don't mind living in
socialist states.
Speaking of socialist states, HI has nice weather. Volcano VIllage
is my favorite place, with Kealikakua and Hilo coming in as close
seconds. But lunacy is rampant, you have the pakalolo growers union
with is strong enough to conduct an armed occupation of the puna
police HQ with no resulting arrests, many old hippies who are now
drugged out zombies, the "Haw. sovereignty movement", which is a
front for the pakalolo growers union. All of Kauai is nice. Mauka
Maui is nice but when you have to go makai, the traffic is nuts.
Kailua on Oahu is nice. Northern oahu has some nice spots, and you
can choose the windward side if you like rainforest, or the leeward
side if you like desert. Good surfin either way. Good huntin' on
the Big Island. The gummit, however is as corrupt as chicago, and as
socialist as venezuela.
Like I said, good things and bad things everywhere. Gummit goes from
looney bad to insanely terrible.
