Truth, but maybe more a result of the type of driving Dissel owners do.

Diesels tend to be driven longer with fewer cold starts and more miles per start over 100k or so.

Gassers are often driven a few blocks and shut off or a mile or 5.

Exhausts rust out from short trips and lots of condensation in a cold exhaust system.

There may be some chemical reasons too.

124 and 126 I have had seem to have the original exhaust.

the OM616 pipes rusted out after about 10 years.

Part of it is better metallurgy, and part of it may be cleaner exhaust with the OM 60x.

So is it rumor or truth that diesel exhausts last longer than gas?
