To eliminate my confusion, are semaphore turn signals solid arms that go from vertical (down) to horizontal to indicate a turn, or are they the small lights on the fender just in front of the A-pillar? My first thought when the subject was brought up was that they are the solid arms, but I've never seen a car with them.
