i don't know what you are saying here.  i start this conversation with how
i use my 8 year old IBM chip mac all day every day for every thing.  others
chime in with similar sentiments and even older machines  only to be
informed by you that apple forces us to upgrade against our will every five
years.  kinda silly, no?
