Times change, cars change. If Mercedes would build a 240D in this day and age it would become the laughing stock of auto manufacturers. However, something in the spirit of a 240D might work. Simple, really well built and economical. Volkswagen kind of does it with the Jetta diesel. Why can't Mercedes do it with a C class or CLA or B?
