Well, the basic problem is that the part that's broken is a rather large
item in a rather inconvenient location.  I did grab one from a U-pull, but
the only way I got it out was by more or less disassembling the entire
window lifter mechanism, and even then it didn't want to come out.  So I'm
less than eager to try to do that to mine which I am at least enjoying the
latching and door handle operation on.  Besides, I don't need to get in the
door, the leads are already out under the dash for the solenoid.

So, where exactly might one pick up one of these keyless entry systems?  I
agree, that sounds perfect, but the only ones I've seen (which seem semi
hard to find) are like $80-100 and I'd hate to tear apart perfectly good
wiring on something brand new...  The pick-a-part around here doesn't
normally even have keys in anything, let alone keyless remotes (assuming the
other end isn't a big old box that's tied into everything else in the car
anyway)...
