My car was about $1000 with $550 of that being transmission. A Golf
is likely easier than a van...

I was thinking $750 is probably in the normal/reasonable range for a minivan
and $500 would be cheap.
I have no idea what other parts would need to be changed, or should
be changed when you are in there. (And the cost for those)
