I had that earlier this summer too, chipmunks caught in the trap would be just 
a leg in the trap the next day...

That, or something larger is going for the mouse caught by the trap.
That's what was happening here earlier in the summer. I wanted to stake
the traps to the ground, but never got the right stuff to do it.
