I'm still waiting for the Mercedes shoe to drop. I'm suspicious of the
discrepancy between the EPA MPG numbers (low) and actual observed numbers
(high). Might MB have also planted EPA pollution test defeat code, which
decreased mileage during the test while decreasing pollution?

My understanding is that a contributing factor in the case of VW is the
relatively loose European model for vehicle pollution standards testing, which
invites some serious "gaming" of the testing to improve performance. If VW
decided to play fast and loose "over there" and then fell down that slippery
slope for the U.S.A. EPA testing, could the same have happened to Mercedes?
BMW?
