I guess I agree and disagree.
Psycho-babble has its place but a psychology degree is a low-wage earner one.
Forcing colleges to come up with a cost/benefit ratio for career paths to show
to prospective students would go a long way.
The ones on tv that complain about high student loans are usually kids that
went to private school and got a degree in humanities.
State schools, like the place I went, have improved the quality of life a lot
from the old days but are still a long way from the giant private schools. When
I started school at Fitchburg a friend as at BU. All my teachers were real
actual professors, quite a few Doctors too. Most of his instructors were grad
students. He was paying $20,000 MORE a year just in tuition than I was paying
for tuition, fees and room and board and I was on the expensive (19 meals a
week) food program.
When I paid off my student loans the guy in the cube next to me had 5 years
left to go at twice my payment. He'd gone to Emerson at the same time as I had,
had the same basic degree I had and was working the same job for the same pay
as I was...

This is also true.  I worked my way through kolledge.  I used my $400
student loan to buy a pioneer stereo and a drum set.  I still have both.

but most people never use the kollege education at work. The exceptions
are math, sciences (hard sciences, real science, as opposed to the
sociology, psychology, edubabble, etc.) and engineering and technology
areas.  The fraud still exists in the form of exorbitant fees, and in
the form of worthless degrees, like genderstudies, ethnic studies, etc.

The majority of kids in kollege now believe they are owed higher ed and
a high llifestyle.  The rush around campuses is to build the most fancy,
most expensive student dwellings.  The on-campus housing is following
the same path.  single rooms, big pools and rec halls, and all kinds of
other BS.  A far cry from the dorms of the 70s and before.
