I have some which was sent to me in error (so it was free!) and IIRC is to protect contacts after cleaning. However, I would not use the attached brush directly on dirty contacts, as it will introduce contaminants into the bottle. The compound appears to be the same as what I use. I see an ad above this listing for $15.25 as opposed to the $21.09 in this ad. That seems reasonable enough. Deoxit has several different compounds too. I am talking about the red stuff. My experience with the spray is that the spray fails when only a small portion of the contents were gone. My technique when the contacts are accessible is to use the dropper container and q-tips. I saturate the head of a q-tip with the liquid, then rub the contact to remove the oxidation. If the female contact can't be cleaned this way I make and break the contacts several times with a bit of the liquid on the male contact. This has worked well for me. I'm thinking it's either the gauge in the instrument cluster or slightly corroded pins in the sending unit. Easiest option would be to apply Deoxit which I don't currently own. Question: Which type of DeOxit should I purchase that suits this application? Is it OK to spray into the femaie housing or just onto the male pin assembly?
