Sunil,

How frequently should an asymptomatic 50+ person get a colonoscopy?

Well ONE factor might be how much you enjoy it!

I put mine off for about 5 years ('til I was 70), but now that I've experienced it (NO recollection at all) I will not procrastinate in the future. Apparently (and in my limited experience) the colonoscopy is a procedure with a VERY high user satisfaction level according to a GI surgeon that I used to routinely work with (and is the boss of the surgeon that performed MY colonoscopy).

Frequency is entirely a matter of risk. The results of your colonoscopy (and your medical history) will define how frequently you need to repeat the procedure.
