I've got 3 of these free Macbooks, hate to not make them usable. Apparently if 
I put the Linux on DVD it'll work. I *think* we've got some blanks in the 
office...

That was the excuse apple used to not allow el crap (or some version prior to 
el crap) to install unless you had core i 5 or i7 or some such nonsense.  Apfel 
has become the new M$....forcing you to buy new machines for no good reason.

Irritating, but I fixed the problem by fixing a cheap broken i7

remember I found a small cache of Macbook Pro Core2Duo machines. I'd intended 
to install MacPup Linux on one of them and use it as a machine for camp, mostly 
for pulling pictures off game camera SD cards.Turns out that most (all?) 
Core2Duo machines use a 32bit EFI even though its a 64bit machine. The hoops 
that have to be jumped through are not insurmountable but definitely 
annoying... Gee thanks Apple...
