I got my son a vac hose about 8ft long and ran it from the shutoff to the cabin, he just sucked on it to shut it off. WAs pretty funny. Maybe yours the actual vac actuator was dead?

Hi Gang,
A week or so ago (8/26), I wrote and asked about the procedure for replacing the Vac Valve (Thanks BTW!) Given my knee situation, we decided it was a job for our Indy. My wife took our 91 300D to local Shop a couple of days ago to replace the Shutoff Valve. Had it diagnosed a few days earlier and was able to have it replaced while she waited. Total for Parts and Labor was $180 in case anyone needs to know for future reference. She is so much happier now that she doesn't have to open the hood and push the lever every time she parked, especially since it has been raining a lot lately ;-) She tells me that was really getting old. I was beginning to think I would wake up one morning to find she had finally had enough and did me in for my minuscule life insurance. I am getting physical therapy for my new knee and will have more x-rays next week to see if there is anymore slippage of the stem into the femur. I'm really getting tired of having knee replacements! If this one fails, my surgeon has found a way to keep me from going the route of amputation. The bad part is he would have to replace my perfectly good hip, run a rod through my femur to connect the knee which would hopefully be a permanent repair. Please pray that it doesn't slip anymore. TIA!
