We had a local dealer selling his cars advertised as "Deeply Discounted"
because of Hail Damage. The advertisement said many of the cars had
damage only detectable by a professional. I guess they weren't bad
enough to warrant Salvage Titles?
A whole bunch of new cars with salvage titles (a brand new car with no factory warranty,
yippee!), Chevys, Fords, Toadas, Lexi, were in a NY CoPart auction yesterday. $20-26k
Cruzes and Malibus were going for $10-12k, some of the Lexi were going for what I assume
was 70% of MSRP or more. Every car, no matter what the selling price, was "on
reserve" at auction end.
Now a Cruze Hatchback with 53 miles on the odo that sold for $11,100 yesterday
is relisted with a BuyItNow of $14,800. Hmm, do I buy it from my local Chebby
dealer for $18,500 after rebates, or do I pay nearly $16k with Copart fees for
a dented up car with no warranty?
