Unless the taxation changes or people change their driving habits. I think that we will see a gentle improvement in fleet economy as the gigunda SUVs fall from favor a bit but I don't see that happening overnight. I do think that people are making more efficient choices in their replacement vehicles but I don't think they're running right out to buy a more efficient vehicle, as older ones come up for replacement though... Anyway, are you buying a diesel Mercedes just for the fuel economy? I'm sure not, well not entirely anyway. I genuinely like driving these older Mercedes and from what I've read its more difficult to keep the gassers on the road and I drive about 450 miles a week so the diesel fits my needs. -Curt Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2006 22:51:00 -0800 From: David Brodbeck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] FW: Today's Diesel Prices To: Mercedes Discussion List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
I guess that makes sense. It may be a permanent change, then, I suppose. With diesel now costing around 30% more than regular unleaded, I doubt my next car will be a diesel. It doesn't make economic sense anymore. It's not hard to find midsize gasoline cars that get 22 mpg or better. --------------------------------- Yahoo!
