Seller says engine is siezed - has just over 80K on the clock.

Any thoughts as to why it will not turn over?

Snapped rod, snapped chain, overheated from no water or no oil, will all do it and then there are a few much, much less likely possibilities. Dave Quay (Atlanta-Stuttgart recycler) bought a low mileage '87 300D with a seized engine to dismantle. Once they removed the serp belt, the engine turned just fine. He replaced the alternator and his wife Beth used the car for years.
