I would get a $40 drum dolly from Northern Tool (HF doesn't have them) and put 
a couple of eye bolts in a corner(s) of the sides/ends of the bed to keep it 
from rolling around when driving. 
This is not a suggestion and may be more dangerous than having the barrel flat 
on the bed of the pickup truck. Your experience may be different than mine.
