Well sorry I guess it was always going to be a hot button type subject.

Anyway yes there is no energy source devoid of environmental impact.
Lithium ion for instance has a big carbon footprint. Maybe 25% co2 savings
over diesel for the life of the car, including manufacturing. Because the
electric car started out in a carbon hole from the battery manufacturing.

My reasons for liking electric cars are excellent performance, low
maintenance and never going to the gas station. I dont have a problem with
subsidies; reasonable people may disagree on what is proper to subsidize
but suffice it to say there are many I do not favor also.

I also like the notion of using the light from the sky to generate my
electricity vs. Stuff dug up out of the ground and injected into the
atmosphere. Seems like we might need the stuff in the ground for more
important stuff later in history. If we can import the energy for free from
outer space for not much more money, that seems like a better deal. And I
like the idea of self sufficiency and being able to own the means of
production rather than buy the product from others forever and ever.

Anyway thanks as usual for all the interesting perspective. Happy Dieseling
for 2019. My next move will be to an om648 swapped w123 I think.
