Thanks, Max. I’m planning on replacing the supply and return lines to the metal lines while I’m there as well. The plastic plumbing on the valve cover was completely replaced by me when I got the car, as the OP had cobbled up some bizarre arrangement with RTV, plastic tubing and a recovery “can”, so to speak. The flying saucer was still there and working, so that was a good thing.
I’ve been over the filter holder and it appears to be OK. We did learn that there’s a drain hole in the top of the filter holder so fuel that might accumulate there (as with fuel leaking out of the weep hole in the shutoff valve!) can drain out the back past the “ribs” that are cast in the top of the filter holder. Dealer parts guy has confirmed the list ‘o’ parts I need and the order is in the system. Should have everything by the end of the coming week so we can tear into it next weekend. -D > On Jul 13, 2019, at 5:36 PM, Max Dillon via Mercedes <[email protected]> > wrote: > > Should be enough room to get at the overflow valve, depends on the > orientation of the pump to set the timing. > > More likely than not there is a failed O-ring or two.
