I recently saw an analysis that solar installations north of the 35th parallel were a net CO2 loss, when all the CO2 emitted during production and installation were compared to the same power provided by coal or one of the other fossil fuels. In other words, installing solar panels to replace electricity currently generated by fossil fuels will INCREASE the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere, when the solar panels are installed north of 35 degrees.
