Anyone ever replace valve springs? I am putting some stiffer ones on

assume I just rotate the piston to the top to prevent the valves from
falling in.
When they suggested it, I had a racing shop replace the valve springs on
my '59 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spyder Veloce with Jaguar springs. That
enabled the valves to close more quickly and thus the engine could be run
to higher RPM.

I sold it to a friend who later told me the stronger springs had
stretched the valve stems and the valves started leaking. He had
the head redone with new valves and standard springs.

Hot rodding for more power usually has side effects. The fellows who change the chip to make the big Ford F250 and F350 diesel trucks make more boost to get more power, will stretch the head bolts after a while and cause the headgaskets to leak. It is an expensive fix. They don't want to give up the extra power, so they use expensive head stud kits to retain the heads. I am not sure what breaks next but it will be something. Probably main and rod bearings.
