And new headgaskets every 100,000 miles or so. Subaru apologists bury that 
under "regular maintenance".

 GM 3.4 is junk. Leaking intake gaskets into the engine kills them. Properly 
repaired, with documentation, maybe. Subaru can be a great car, with new head 
gaskets, and fresh timing belt. Again, documentation is key.
