I've stayed there a coupla times years ago, I think that was the place that had a fancy restaurant in it I would brunch at, or maybe it was in a place close by.  Some well-known chef, food was really good but it was a bit spendy.  there were lots of good restaurants there, some outfit had 6 restaurants that were sort of a "chain" but they were all different.  I remember going to one place, I think it was called Lulu's or something like that (oh look, it closed https://insidescoopsf.sfgate.com/blog/2017/01/03/restaurant-lulu-closes-without-warning-in-soma/ ), had a big wood grill and the seafood was awesome.  Another place was kinda Chinese/Vietnamese that was amazing too.  I think we might have gone to one or two others but my memory was altered...  It was fun there until it turned into a sh*thole, which was starting the last time I was there which was like 21 yr ago, people relieving themselves on the street, it smelled really bad.  I walked to an event one morning and after that just took a taxi the 4 or 5 blocks, it was nasty.

Drove by the Fairmont hotel, always wanted to see it from the old TV show. I
wanted to park and go in but gave up trying to find somewhere to park. If I
would have been thinking I would have just booked a stay there since the
company is paying for it.
