When I had neck surgery in 2013, I was put on oxycontin and given a supply before I was sent home (to Los Alamos from Phoenix). I think the surgery people even called my doctor in LA to make sure they would issue a new prescription when I ran out. I was so plugged up, I got myself off that stuff as soon as I could.
