The “timing belt” issue is the alternator water pump belt. Just stopped at the auto parts store and got one, $16. Guy at the counter used to work for the stealer down the road, says he’s rebuilt a coupla these engines. Got his name and number.
She ran the battery down and it quit, also probably overheated, don’t know how bad. Noticed a little water bubbling from the head gasket on pass side. Car starts and runs and drives fine, a little cranky on cold start and yeah seems to idle a bit high. Everything very clean though. Has some kind of weird hot rod air filter on it, will need to source a proper filter setup. I’ll get pics when I get home. --R Sent from iPhone > On Apr 21, 2020, at 11:00 AM, Peter Frederick via Mercedes > <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > > 77 is probably K-Jet or KE-Jet (my 75 Audi Fox was K-Jet). > > Couple funky idle drop down servos and lots of hoses -- all of which have to > be completely sealed for it to run right.
