Which reminds me, I've wanted for a long time now to get a fire extinguisher
for each car we drive. I assume those, what is it? Halon? type are the
preferred ones (leave less powder behind, etc.?)

Older VWs had one like that inside the headlight switch. I had the wire
in one break and short out to the switch frame, once. It's never a good
sign when you're driving and you smell something burning.
