I have a 40v Greenworks battery trimmer on which I
installed a metal blade. It works great for the
thicker weeds and the batteries are the same as
the ones for the 18" chainsaw which I actually
bought first. I wouldn't be without either one and
I heat with wood here in N. Fla.

For just cutting grass around the yard I'd say electric. I've got a Makita 18v
and it'll trim our small yard on one 4ah battery.
For real sticks and brush a gas unit with a metal blade is a must. Prepare to
spend real money for a good one. Mine is a Husky from the mid 90s. I think it
was around $500 back then.Cheap 2 stroke weed eaters will make you pull your
hair and gnash your teeth. Not worth it.

Recommendations for these? Stick with gas or go electric?
