I have been using DVI with a Dell 2405 FPW which I got used off eBay for many years now. It is a 24" (diagonal) monitor with 1920 (wide) x 1200 (high) pixels and is quite adequate for my older-than-yours eyes. Many monitors these days are 1080 pixels high, but I prefer the extra height of 1200 pixels for working on OpenOffice.org text documents and spreadsheets and for Sylpheed, my email client.
