That’s nothing. Base MSRP on my 2001 CL600 was $117,200 in 2001 dollars, which translates to about $205,000 today. I paid $4,000 for mine in pretty good condition, which is equal to about $2300 in 2001. Floyd has probably done better with some of his W215/216 cars.
In other words, I paid a smidge below 2.0% of the original selling price for the car. Or, if you’re a glass-half-empty person, the car took a 98% hit in depreciation over its current life.
