Maintenance costs on the older cars (i.e., those out of warranty) is directly related to retail prices. If you’re only buying parts the deals can be great. If you’re paying someone else to diagnose and replace parts, you probably can’t afford one unless the acquisition price is really low.
Like our CL600s or my CL500 or the ML63 or the $400E500, most people don’t want to pay someone to keep a 15yo or 20yo or more running right. Even if the acquisition price is low (oooh a cheap Mercedes!) they choke on maintenance costs.
