As I recall, if it’s not cracked or broken, you’re good. Mine had a crack in 
one of the windings of the spring, so I replaced it. I suspect if things get 
bad enough when the little shock absorber fails it stresses the spring, too, 
after a while.

This was a pretty easy repair as I recall.
