Its just asinine to think that its the buyers responsibility to inform the seller of the value of whatever they are selling. So I show up to look at a 87 300D. Ask the guy how much, he says 850, I say, how about 800, he says ok. Im not going to say, gee sir, I cant buy your car, because its worth at least $4500. Heck no. Just seems too many people these days think its the job of others to look out after them, and nothing is every their fault.

Exactly.
We'd never have any "bargins" or "diamonds in the rough" if a buyer, to be "ethically correct", was to inform the seller what the item is worth. People who want to sell stuff need to be familiar enough with what they are selling to ask a reasonable price to get what the item is worth. The "do your homework" phrase applies to many parts of our lives...but people rarely do their homework (namely most political/religious/ethics etc discussions).
