It is my understanding that the actual formulation of what is called 'biodiesel' varies quite a bit, depending on what the base stock was. Also, unless considerable care is used in the making, some of the alcohol used as part of the process can remain in the fuel, and it is this alcohol which attacks the rubber lines. These two factoids could go a long way towards explaining the wild differences in experiences.
