Good VW beetles are getting scarce. VW produced millions of them, we used
them & threw them away. Then we chopped up thousands & made them into dune
buggys.

I've been looking for one around here and the bottom end price for a
complete, un-restored, rust free beetle from the mid-60s through the 70s is
about $3,500.00. A nice restored example can bring $4,500.00++. Nice
restored convertibles are going for $12,000.00++.

About twenty years ago when the vast majority of them had either rusted
away or caught fire.  They are VERY scarce, hence the high price for
one in good shape.

German autobody rust syndrome got most of them.
