I think of the Baja Bug as a VW with fiberglass front end and bonnet, jacked
up suspension, big rear wheels, and high exhaust. Still has the VW body shell
and floor pan, and often driven on the street.
When you say dune buggy, I think of the tube framed buggies with only drivetrain
and suspension from the original car (sand rails that are rarely seen on the
street)
or a fiberglass replacement body on the VW chassis like the Meyers Manx. When I
was
five years old, I thought the Manx was one of the coolest cars around, I ranked
it
right up there with the Corvette. My nephew had a Berrien sand rail, and the
college kid across the road currently has one. The kid across the road is in
major need of a windscreen, his passenger seat usually has a few pounds of mud
in it. He was out playing in the mud Friday, I should have gotten a picture of
him. I can't believe he drives that thing without goggles.

Mitch.
