Sud? or Soot?
Intake body was cleaned recently with the change in glowplugs last
spring. Fresh bypass hoses this summer and no buildup seen in four
months time. Could I have put the intake thingy on wrong?

It is fairly easy to pull the intake pipe which will reveil the
condition.
