Sud? or Soot?

Intake body was cleaned recently with the change in glowplugs last spring. Fresh bypass hoses this summer and no buildup seen in four months time. Could I have put the intake thingy on wrong?

I am just guessing here, but if the EGR is active, you may have a lot of sud
built up in the intake/resonator manifold.
It is fairly easy to pull the intake pipe which will reveil the condition.

I asked the folks on the MBCA forum about the issue and got a RTFM from
Marshall. Anybody want to give better data?

Idle is rough and I would like to know what to do to adjust it so that
it idles smoother. With all the knowledge around here, somebody must
know what I can do
