Hey Ed, agree completely -- We had a 78 Malibu with the 305 engine and that engine was flawless. The car went thru transmissions like they were M&Ms but the engine was perfect. Often I wish I'd been able to keep the engine when we donated the car to the Kidney Fdn - w/bad tranny of course. Would have loved to put that engine in a Cobra replica -
But the engine started perfectly,cruised at 80 day long - though not with the chassis/suspension sweetness a MB has - and was easy to maintain. Even though it was a gas engine it didn;t need all that much.
