The insurance adjusters work for the insurance company and their job is to pay out as little as possible.
I've done my rounds with them and it's never fun. One adjuster wanted the body shop to bondo a hood on a less than one year old Lebaron Coupe and he would not back off until the body shop explained that the labor & bondo was going to exceed the cost of the part. Another adjuster low balled me on the same car when it was totaled 8 months later. Their favorite "customer" is someone who just totaled his only transportation. They know that you need to get clear of the car ASAP and they price accordingly. Insurance adjusters are worse than life insurance salesman.
