Not sure but I think the technical know how and time commitment for a 
web based forum is greater plus a lot of spammers like to go into web 
forum to offer cheap Rolex watches and holidays to Nigeria. Whilst web 
forums do have advantages there are also negatives.
Most web forums do have a function whereby you can view new posts since 
your last visit.
There is a skill involved in making a email list manageable, such as 
using the shift button to highlight a block of messages for deletion.
I think web forums are better if you have a large number of subscribers 
because you can break down what interests you but with a group of this 
size the email works okie dokie:)
