It is not mandatory to integrate QTP with Qc. We can purchase QTP without QC. In framework QC is not mandatory. But some organizations using QC for manual testing for exporting the requirements, test cases and reporting the defects to the development team. In QTP also we can use the QC to export the Results, Defects to the Quality Center.
