yesterday I almost messed up quite a large area by accidentally moving
all members of relation which was of type associated street and
therefore including streets and house number nodes.
First of all I don't think that it is a good idea to be able to move a
relation with its members at all. A relation is just a logical entity
without position. Sure, it might become handy to select a lot of items
very fast this way, but I actually don't see what kind of relation this
might be. Maybe I'm missing something here... I'd prefer to have it at
least optional to move relations, or alternatively have a safer kind of
two-step method for selecting all relation members for further manipulation.
Anyway, the described problem actually only occurred because selecting
relations in the map by mouse seems to be strange on the current Windows
version (0.16.1release). It is almost impossible to select a relation by
clicking in the map. A few versions before this has been clear: just
click on the dotted relation frame. Now this doesn't seem to work. I
suppose that this is due to the fact that the painted bounding box
actually is not anymore the bounding box of all members (see
http://www.mocacher.de/osm-relation-selected.png). I just cannot find
any predictable point on the map that selects the relation. Somehow this
point is somewhere within the bounding box, but not in even in the
middle. Sometimes this also avoids me from setting a new node because
the area is the selection of some invisible relation with a large
bounding box. The only way for me to select a relation for adding
members etc. is the features dock containing all visible relations.
It doesn't seem to matter if the option "relations selectable while
hidden" is on or off.
BTW, there also seems to be something strange with the view port: please
note that some of the nodes of the buildings at the top of the linked
picture (around Reiherweg) are not painted although there is plenty of
room above. They are still selectable but just invisible. I don't know
if both issues are somehow related...
