OSGB36 is the Ordinance Survey of Great Britain from 1936 projection.

A projection is just a method used to take the surface of the earth (a
sphere in really simple terms), and try and represent it on a flat
plane. The type of distortion used is called the projection.

The OSGB36 projection is a Transverse Mercator projection with an
origin just offshore between England and France.
