Hi Peter, I pretty much get the same results when I change projection to OSBG36 (whatever that means ;-)). The Relation bounding box is to small an also the viewport shows the same weired clipping behavior. Also it seems to be impossible to select an relation. When using Merkaartor, Google and Lat/Long seem to be ok. However if this is the explanation for your problem there seem to be an issue with the bounding box on (and even more) on OSBG36.
I personally switch on the showing of relation when I am mapping the housnumbers in this way. This also prevents me from suprising hover and focus of relations (in case the bounding box is ok).
