It looks like others have found similar problems, I just looked at

I've used GLwCreateMDrawingArea on various Red Hat releases and it's always
worked, and this is pretty well eastablished and standard code. I'm not sure
what happens exactly, but I guess GLwCreateMDrawingArea get's mapped to
GLwCreateM2DrawingArea via the include files - I haven't checked this, so not
sure. The GLwCreateM2DrawingArea function is in my RHEL5.4 libraries, just not
in my Fedora libraries.

For the time being I have a workaround by just using my RH libraries on Fedora,
so at least the code is working OK.
