i beg to differ -- here's a single example:
meta-intel/recipes-core/zlib/zlib-intel_1.2.11.1.jtkv6.3.bb:
FILESEXTRAPATHS_append = ":${COREBASE}/meta/recipes-core/zlib/zlib"
