I need to do a quick test for Quicktime on a person's machine and
simply inform them to either install it or upgrade if the version
is too low. Production deadlines on this don't allow me to get into
helping them with their problem, taking them to a web site or
putting installers on the CD all of which is a bit over my head
right now. . . . .I just want to inform them.

Problem is how to get MC to evaluate a version number
with two dots. It seems that version 4.1.2 of Quicktime or greater will work
fine for all media I have going. But this script

global gQtVersion

on preOpenStack
put the qtVersion into gQtVersion
if gQtVersion < 4.1.2 then
   ## tell the user to upgrade
   ## and take him to a card with no .mpg movies,
   ## which are broken in versions 4.0 and 4.1
   ## but only simple QT.mov movies which work in any version.
end if

Obvious problem is that 4.1.2 is not a number. . .I can't think of a way
around it other than to set up a little list variable of all known QT
version numbers and test against that, but maybe someone has already done
this?
Could you post a small code snippet? Thanks!
