>OK, the official release date for OS X is now March 24... Hooray for that! >How about the MetaCard engine for OS X? Yes, this is the main thing that's preventing me from switching over to OS X... as soon as it hits, it may be time to get one of those G4 Cubes... >I also recommend that we (MetaCard developers) pool our resources to come up >with some common solutions to making our apps look more "OS X-like." I'm >thinking specifically of ask file, answer file, answer password, etc. This >is one of the VERY few areas where I think MetaCard is still weak. Yeah, I >know, you can create your own versions of ask and answer, but the default is >pretty ugly. It ain't gonna cut it with folks looking for those nifty >throbbing capsule-looking buttons. I'm thinking a JPEG file for the >backdrop and maybe an animated GIF to simulate the new buttons? A .gif image would work even better for the background since the lines on OS X windows are horizontal. I've uploaded a possibly background picture in this directory: http://www.karlbecker.com/aqua/ I don't have the OS X public beta, but if someone does, an easy way to get a pulsating button would be to use a program like Snapz Pro to capture the actual animation of the blue OS X "OK" button. I'm not sure if Snapz is Carbonized (I doubt it) , but something to this effect would be great. A script that changed MC's default button from grey to blue would work, too, but it wouldn't have the aqua look. Is MetaCard for OS X going to introduce a new Look and Feel setting for Aqua? > >Anyway, since OS X is sooooo close, I wonder if we might possibly catch a >hint of when MetaCard will have an engine for it? Ooooh, I'm waiting... and now CarbonLib 1.2 is available for all Mac OS users... come on MetaCard ;-) -- Karl Becker, KB Productions - http://www.karlbecker.com Featuring: Tiger's Eye Casino, New Tricks, and The Fishin' Hole Happy Holidays!
