My email was just to express my appreciation for the mans generosity. The
link was to show who this generous person was. Now the poor guy has to
defend himself in his auctions because people are now harrassing him.
I guess I should have just emailed him and said thanks.

Since Bob Evans hasn't addressed that yet (and I'd love to see a
definitive
answer, too) just looking at the description of the "auction" (which is
just a
display of photos) it looks like maybe he had earlier misphrased things to
make
it look like he meant to give away free samples when what he was really
trying
to do was show the photos, and then just honored the buyer(s) who "bought"
that
way. Just a guess, of course. But if he really is giving them away, I
don't
see it advertised in his auctions or his web site.
